Incipit

Now my name has become Laurence. Laurence is my original first name. I managed not to lose it. Though I have lost everything else, I recovered my name.

Laurence means “gold in itself” in the idiom of birds. Gold: עור, “the skin” in Hebrew, but also “the light”, אור. Therefore, Laurence means “the light-skin in itself”.

Life has rinsed off all my names at the great wash-house of experience. And here I am, blessed as I am incarnating that heavenly spelling : Gold in itself. Laurence begotten out of the hips of Laurette, Laurette, as those who couldn’t recognise me used to call me. Orchids are in full bloom again down in my solar plexus where the memory of all my peers does nest.

Back cover

The first time I was initiated to the mystery of the meaning of my original name dates back to 2013: Laurence, which stands for “Gold in itself” in the idiom of birds. and with which I decided to sign all my books to come. What’s the use of having born a name that wasn’t even mine all these past years?

Now my name is Laurence. Laurence is my original first name. I managed not to lose it. Though I have lost everything else, I recovered my name.
